A consumer tip: Wonder how often airport public bathrooms are cleaned? There are public restroom requirements for cleaning that vary from airport to airport, but here’s a sample of U.S. airports' cleaning schedules, according to research conducted by USA Today:

Atlanta: men’s bathrooms cleaned every 15 minutes between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., women’s cleaned on an ongoing basis between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., full cleaning of all restrooms after midnight

Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky: 3-4 times daily

New York JFK: varies by terminal, hourly during peak times

Honolulu: Hourly
